Shelter operators and BC Housing need to be held to respect our community
I worked with my lawyer, at my own expense, to try to push the City of Kamloops to support a completely independent review of BC Housing and of the shelter operators working in our community — to confirm they are staffed appropriately for the services they provide, that they actually deliver the services they say they deliver, and that there is measurable success coming out of their facilities.
Without a third-party review, nobody is holding them responsible as operators in our community. That has been painfully obvious for four years.
Why does it take a member of the public and the business community this much effort to get our elected officials to help them? I know I am not alone. Many businesses in the affected areas — and across the whole city — can relate to this frustration.
